During this year's show, the company will debut the new Xerox DocuColor 5000 digital color press, which offers users razor-sharp printing and copying at up to 50 pages per minute. To accompany the Xerox line of products, Fujifilm will also show the DMC multi-coater from Dorn SPE, the leading in house manufacturer of roller coating equipment. The DMC represents the most affordable and user friendly coating line on the market, and produces high quality UV glass or matte coating on a variety of printed stocks.

Lohr Printing Makes Room for Digital Printing Capabilities Enovation Installs Xerox DocuColor 8000 at Cincinnati-area Shop

May 2006

VALHALLA, N.Y. (April 27, 2006) - Despite looming deadlines, Ric Lohr, owner of Cincinnati-area Lohr Printing, always has one eye on the future of his business. A 26-year veteran of the graphic arts industry, Lohr recently teamed up with Enovation Graphic Systems, Inc. to integrate yet another business offering - digital printing - for his customers.

"Traditionally, we've been a sheetfed commercial printer," said Lohr, whose company has both a two-color and a five-color press. "But, we've had some recent changes with employees that made me begin looking for a different solution. I wanted to start making some changes with our business and the capabilities we have."

Lohr says he researched the market, as well as the devices, thoroughly before deciding to install the Xerox DocuColor 8000 digital press. For Lohr, the biggest selling point initially was the unit's ability to do two-sided registration. Now that the DocuColor 8000 is running on site, Lohr says he's also extremely pleased with the color he's seeing. "The solids are great, and registration is in from the first print on," he explains. "Our customers are very impressed with the turnaround times and the quality of the pieces delivered. And what makes it even better is I can even run it."

Lohr Printing is celebrating its 25th year in business and this year is likely to mark a significant change for Lohr and its nine employees. With the introduction and adoption of digital printing, Lohr says he's now able to do much of the company's work digitally and is looking to sell the press equipment he used previously. "We'll be a fully digital shop," he says proudly, adding that they will have to keep some devices in order to continue printing customer letterhead and envelopes.

To make room for the company's new capabilities, Lohr had to do some remodeling, turning a former dark room into a new prepress room. "We wanted to make sure that we had a dust-free environment and that we created a nice workspace from the beginning," he added.

Overall, Lohr says he's quite pleased with the Xerox DocuColor 8000 and with the assistance he received from Enovation. "We felt really comfortable with our sales reps and had a lot of faith and trust in what they were discussing with us," he says. "Their expertise really showed through and we were confident in our decision to install this equipment and to work with Enovation."

His eye ever on the future, Lohr says he's already preparing and training his staff to take advantage of the variable data capabilities of their new digital press. "That's where we're headed now."
